10% GST on everything was the Liberals original plan that they were forced to change into the hodge-podge we have by the Democrats in the Senate.
The original plan was also for big personal tax cuts which did not eventuate, only small cuts could be made.
The idea of lifting the tax free thresh-hold to $30,000 is mine as this would deliver a big tax cut for all tax payers. As a bonus a million or more low income earners would become tax exempt and this should lower tax office compliance costs.
Pensions are indexed to the CPI so pensioners would automatically be compensated for price rises and perhaps the thresh-hold income for eligibility for a part pension should be lowered so that self-funded retirees are not disadvantaged.
