    Don't make it any more complicated than necessary.

    It traded cum-dividend up to COB 23rd. Provided you owned shares at that date, you receive the dividend for each share held.

    If you sold them before COB 23rd you get no dividend.

    If you sold them ex-dividend as at start of 24th onwards, you sell them ex the entitlement to the dividend. That's why the price usually drops when a share goes ex-dividend.
    So you receive the dividend, but the new owner doesn't.

    The record date is usually about 4 days after the ex-dividend date.
