If the government wanted to stop manipulation of the market it could do it easily.
A simple tax of maybe 1c per trade would kill it in an instant and it wouldn't substantially affect real investors; I'd gladly pay a couple of bucks a year to stop this cr@p. But it wont happen. There are lots of reasons. Not the least is because the gov takes tax from the profits the manipulators and high frequency traders make.
Petition anyone?................ Yeah right!
