Sydney medical devices business AllVascular has closed a $5 million private round.AllVascular is working on a device for targeted delivery of anti-cancer agents like chemotherapy. Peter BraigIts flagship product is an implantable device for targeted delivery of chemotherapy into the cancerous organ.Called the Arterial Access System (AVAS), the device aims to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy by isolated delivery of the anti-cancver agents only to the affected site.AllVascular would use the funds to accelerate AVAS’s development and commercialisation, including clinical studies in Australia and Germany for pancreatic and liver cancers and an application to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where the company would seek a breakthrough designation status. It said pancreatic and liver cancer treatments are a $7 billion market opportunity globally.The company is owned roughly 60 per cent by the staff and founders, with 40 per cent owned by outside investors. It last raised equity in 2018, and has enjoyed the support of the New South Wales government’s medical device fund.This round is understood to be mostly offshore investors.Blue Ocean Equities ran the raise, and AllVascular is eyeing an IPO in the first half next year.Get a first look at tomorrow's headlines
