Hi Rob,
That's an interesting article.
One problem I had with it is the assertation that North's agenda is to do with his christianity. I've been reading North articles amongst the many I've read over the years and I cannot recall him ever mentioning his religious beliefs - if indeed he believes there is something higher than the Austrian school. Your writer asserts, on several occasions that he does. Why should I somehow believe that more than I believe what North has to say?
Notwithstanding that, the writer then moves immediately to the christian right - " ... It explains why he's so obsessed by it, and why he often seems to take a tone that relishes the idea of the coming (did I hear someone say second coming?) apocalypse.
This is so typical of the Christian right (and just about any other religious group, for that matter), taking a complex issue and attaching a religious significance to it. They did this with AIDS, for instance, saying it's God's way of punishing homosexuals. But wait, what about hemophiliacs? Um, uh, go away kid, ya bother me. What about the innocent children who have died of AIDS? Then they invoke the old standby, "the Lord moves in mysterious ways." Right. ... "
What sort of rational argument is that?
In any event, I find North's recent writings about economics/finance thought provoking, but that's jmo..
I find your writer's article interesting, but that's jmo too.
You say "Found this article for you all. ".
Who wrote the article you've posted, and what is the link to it please?
