They didn't lie about their intentions at all Mike.

Labor said prior to the last election they wanted a price on Carbon via a market based mechanism CPRS or ETS.

The Greens said they want a direct price eg a tax.

But neither won in their own right so we have ended up with a short term tax moving to a long term market based mechanism.

People have had to compromise to achieve an outcome , people had to bend to make things happen.

That does not occur in a dictatorship people just do exactly what the leader wants.

Our systme requires people to negoitate , both internally within parties and externally with others in the parliament.
