It seems ridiculous to spend so much taxpayers money on subs etc to protect our country's wealth when most of that wealth is owned by foreign mining companies who do not pay their fair share of Aussie tax.
If we want to protect our minerals, coal & gas from China, Indonesia etc, then we should be taxing those resources appropriately to pay for the subs,
navy vessels ,fighter aircraft & standing army rather than nexpecting Aussie workers to foot the bill and who get bugger all from the minerals & gas boom.

Just have a look at how many foreign companies who pay little or no Aussie tax:

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-13/one-third-of-australian-companies-paid-no-tax-ato/10614916

The Abbott Governmant had the adacity to repeal the MRRT in 2013 as payback to the Minerals Council of Australia which represents 86% foreign ownership of "ou"r mines. Had the MTTR continues, we'd now have at least another $20 billion in the kitty.

The interest on our debt is now over $20 billion a year and rising, thanks to our contribuion to Middle East wars and the US caused GFC!

We are sending another frigate to the Gulf to protect Saudi, Gulf States & Iraqi oil & gas exports.Saudi Arabia is one of the richest countries in the world and it should be capable of protecting its commercial interests in that region.

We have racked up a Commonwealth, State & Muni debt of over a trillion dollars with that now increasing because of the bush fires and, IMO, we should be concentrating on rebuilding our own economy and protecting our own citizens rather than milking our taxpayers to protect the economic interests of others.
