It seems that many believers want to read into scripture meaning that applies to the period in which they live, ---------------------- Jesus taught his followers Bible prophecy is understood at the time it is needed.
(Matthew 26:31) Then Jesus said to them: “All of you will be stumbled in connection with me on this night, forit is written: ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered about.’
Jesus applied what Zechariah had written more than 500 years earlier to what was certain to happen.
(Zechariah 13:7) “O sword, awake against my shepherd, Against the man who is my companion,” declares Jehovah of armies. “Strike the shepherd, and let the flock be scattered; And I will turn my hand against those who are insignificant.”
Peter had to learn the hard way to trust prophecy. (Matthew 26:33) But Peter, in response, said to him: “Although all the others are stumbled in connection with you, I will never be stumbled!”
Like Peter many today are slow to accept Bible truth.
