I mostly hold a core portfolio, but do day tarde at times. Most short term trades are a couple of days / weeks not intra day. I manage money for some wealthy individuals as well as my own funds. Having worked in mine financing & commodity trading I'm pretty comfortable with the volatility in the resources markets, actually prefer it as creates far more opportunities as value quite often seems to go out with the bath water etc.
