BSL is a pure steel play,
OST is a diversified steel, iron ore and manufacturing business,
BSL has hit sudden and massive losses,
OST is still highly profitable even after taking losses on low steel prices,
BSL are paying top dollar for iron ore and workers who are not needed, using innefficient methods to make steel and sell it at a huge loss,
OST are using their own ore and making minimal losses, manufacturing profitable goods, receiving earnings from subsidiaries and showing that they can easily sell off assets when they want some cash,
BSL has been the same for a long time and has become completely dependent on the economic environment around it,
OST has been smart, innovated to a standard that is world class and taken advantage of the economic environment around it,
BSL is controlled by unions,
OST is controlled by businessmen,
BSL is blaming the government and shareholders for being 'greedy',
OST are exercising a carefully orchestrated contingency plan,
BSL is struggling to raise capital to pay its bills,
OST are paying dividends,

How can anyone price these two companies at the same value proportionate to NTA?

Its like trying to say that Treasury wine estates is worth the same to NTA as Coca cola amatil because they both produce beverages.

In the long term this test, if anything, will make OST a more attractive proposition.

BTW (just for comic value)I suggest maybe those saying that bluescope and onesteel are in the same trap try going into a onesteel plant and negotiating redundancy packages with staff then going to a bluescope plant and even uttering the word closures,
