This is my interpretation of of the voting rules allowed by the Corporation Act if applied to a Federal or State election.
Applying poll voting rules at an election, it would probably go along the following lines; the number of votes that would be counted would be based on the voter’s wages or salary.
A supervisor would be entitled to more votes than the cleaner who works under s/he supervision.
Lets ignore poll voting and simply present the scenario as a one vote per shareholder or entity going to vote at a polling booth.
Each polling booth has an updating running total for each party in the election which is viewed before filling out ur election slip for the House of Rep etc
Recall at an AGM the Chairman displays the prior counted results to the attendees and then asks them to vote!
Once u filled out the voting form and deposit into ballot box and started to head towards the exist, a political party member can dive their hands into the ballot box and peruse how u voted.
This person can than approach u and ask u why u voted in such a manner.
If ur are prepared to listen to this person and consider their points as valid, u simply discard the filled out voting form and replaced it with a newer version.
As postal or online votes are coming into registry company the directors have right to view in which way a particular resolution is heading.
If a block of votes comes in from a Custodian or Nominee company, the director can get into contact with them and if necessary try to persuade them to alter their position
That is the reason why I think the voting method is a farce and its like it was intentionally designed to give advantage to the big end of the town with the right to simply source funding from the retail investor’s.
