I imagine You're referring to an Opes Prime Account owned by Your Mate. Now that means Your Mate logded his Shares with ANZ Nominees in return for an Opes Prime Margin Loan. It comes down to the, Car on a Hire Purchase Loan,(like a Share Margin Loan), the Lender can't Sell the Car on You if Your Accounts are in order and from what I can Understand ANZ Nominees may have panicked and may have sold Shares from many Accounts which were in good order at Opes Prime. Could come down to ANZ having to Buy these affected Shares Back and possibily having to generate new Accounts for the affected Shareholders ex Opes Prime. The Girls and Boys at ANZ's Etrade could be very busy in the near Future.
