Sorry to hear it was cold in Melbourne but then, what would you expect? Canberra on the other hand was just perfect today.

I do have to (grudgingly) admit that I too was pleased by Howard's approach today. As you know, it's not often that I have any positive feelings towards the man but today, I pay him his dues.

Funny that you should mention Fred Hollows as I was thinking about him today also. We used to have a few beers together after work on a Friday afternoon at the Royal Hotel in Randwick in the days when you could stand outside a pub on the footpath and noone worried. Many on this site would disapprove of the rabble rousing "commie/anarchist" that Fred was but it is exactly that type of person that this country seems to spawn that makes me hopeful about the ultimate fate of this country.
