the majority of aus honestly doesnt know how to manage money or even spend it wisely, no one sacrifices in any form unless theyre at the true bottom of the social welfare hierarchy with no option.

with inflation factored, the general shoppers basket is still almost double what it would of been if inflation were inverted.

theyll continue to spend till they have nothing or it takes too big of a chunk out of their wallet so they cant immediately do other activities and sit there complaining their paycheque isnt adequate enough for 'cost of living' and blame everyone else
