Thanks Boys,

I agree the US economy is a basket case. I listened to Obama's speech yesterday (Yes I know I have to get a life, but hey I was out walking and waiting for the cricket to come on), and his speech economically was all over the place, with jingoistic one liners but no real economic plan.

But then I think we have an ace up our sleeve and we forgot the opposite effect. With Gillard/Swan we have our ace who can pull the $AUD down singlehandedly with their announcement of a new tax/levy.

PS before I get attacked. I have already donated substantially to the flood relief, and can live with te levy. But to call support for the levy as "patriotic" upsets me greatly. Donating money voluntarily is patriotic. Going without to support someone else can be patriotic, but paying a levy is simply being law abiding.
Announcing the levy and wearing its political cost shows courage and leadership. Dressing it up as "patriotic" is spin and cowardice.

Enough ranting. Sorry had to get it out of me.
