Does anyone use Nitro Pro or any other Nitro products? Thoughts on how they compare to the market?
After seeing the price rocket up over the past few months - well above pre-COVID levels - I wanted to dig back into research on NTO. I think this is an amazing growth sector and industry, and the incumbent has some real problems. The critical question is whether Nitro Pro is really the right horse to back for a challenge (or even just to take scraps) from Adobe.
Nitro tools seem fine to me. They are not as slick as I'd hoped and a long way from Adobe quality, but I think they are still better than competitors like TinyPDF, SodaPDF, etc. Note that these competitors are generally free or almost free, and certainly much cheaper than NTO.
But for me the value in the business is in the eSignature capability and the document workflow. Here they are up against DocuSign whose name is synonymous with this process - so they have their work cut out for themselves. The tooling is actually pretty good. I would love to see usage numbers for eSign throughout 2020, as it is currently free to market, just to get some idea of adoption.
Overall these tools are reasonably good, but there are other competitors and there's very little competitive advantage other than brand recognition.
