It will fluctuate until people stop buying and selling it and that can be long after the last coin has been mined.
P.S. My tip on shorting is to short any other coin to fall in value compared to bitcoin. But that doesn't mean bitcoin will rise against the US dollar. I think almost every alt-coin will fall in value against bitcoin by at least 50%. The bubble is deflating.
