property is on the "upside" of the creek, where the water pushes against the bank, just before the meander in the creek

so when it floods, breaches the embankment on the property side

the freeway cement keeps the lower bank solid so the natural erosion is pushing towards the property

as kingpins said, it is best to be able to lift the house

this will protect it from flood and offer a better view of the cars & trucks on the freeway
