The big elephant in the room that nobody really talks about is the threat from fusion energy as opposed to shale.
In 2022, the ITER fusion project in France will achieve first plasma. Now that sounds a way off but so is Browse.
By 2050, companies like WPL will simply cease to exist unless they begin to adapt soon. BHP for example has invested in various renewable and alternative energies.
A good idea would be to see Woodside partner with someone like the Australian National University or Star Scientific Ltd to research construction and building techniques of Fusion plants, which could supplant or be convert disused or aging LNG facilities. Australia should be dominant in this technology while the rest of the world is sleeping.
