    PRC announced this afternoon that it has finished tunnelling through the Hawera fault zone and is now into more stable conditions and has about another 182 metres to go to reach the Brunner coal seam.

    The announcement indicates that progress has been as slow as 1 metre a day through the fault zone.

    Progress will now speed up and the coal seam should be reached about the end of August
