    My dad who was 10 in 1929 would tell of living off fish from the nearby river and when it was in flood they would gather the vegetables which flowed from the low lying gardens. His Dad was one of the lucky ones who had a couple of days work a week and a house with the job.
    Mum lived on a farm and said depression what depression we didn't get any more or less regardless of the economy it was bread and dripping every day and with luck a piece of fruit. We need to remember how much things have changed and how lucky we are.
