Yeah I'm in one of the 'hotspots' and shopping centres are still rammed here, especially on weekends. People absorb the messaging from the government pretty quickly, so if they are telling everyone its safe enough to be out shopping, people naturally think that the threat has passed.
If we do have to go into lockdown again, I hope they do it properly this time and hold on that extra few weeks necessary to extinguish the thing. Cutting corners to "save the economy" has always seemed to cost us a whole lot more in the long run.
Not immediately closing the airports to the EU and US when it was evident they had a serious infection is the best example of this: compare the cost of closing the airports 3 weeks earlier to the the result, which was a months long national lock-down, massive underutilisation of the workforce and the ongoing risk of second waves - and of course the airports are closed now anyway and will be for quite some time yet.
