Do you also use the Flixotide preventative inhaler ?
I find when my asthma and coughing is at it's worse putting a little vicks vapour rub on the back of your tongue , helps breathing.
Another thing is putting the shower hot tap on , let the room fill with steam and breathe deeply. Hope you get on top of it ,cheers

Borrow the Pals spacer for ventolin ...sit next to a humidifier with oils (tea tree etc )also a hot lemon /honey& brandy before bed ...all’s good it’ll be gone in a week or 2
