I listed the sponsorship under distraction, rather than bad news which was the first link. Personally however I see corporate sponsorship of sporting events as ego tripping by company proprietors rather than anything else. No doubt they get the corporate box and a bunch of ego inflating goodies to go along with it. I'd like to see hard data on dollars spent V dollars won in relation to corporate sponsorship of sporting events. Most of the time I would guess it is financially toxic overall to the company. It's a challenge for me to see how it would prompt more people to get an Xray or MRI, and there must be far cheaper and direct ways to keep referring doctors mindful of the company, eg give them some biros and embossed writing pads.
