I might have something on winks trick trade and why it works.

One fairly big trading strategy of some larger trading companies is to pair trade dual listed stocks and if you get the calculations right one can pretty much predetermine the opening price of e.g BHP and RIO as they are determined by those guys. On a day like today when the exchange rate drops significantly (due to the correlation with the S&P) during the close of NYSE and our opening they will buy these stock and vice versa ...... hence the trick trade.
