Agree with your statement that said divergence could be due to forex amongst a multitude over other variables no doubt.
To elaborate further, those that have been observing the carry trade phenomenon, the chart tells me that early to mid-Nov 09 marked the gradual unwind of the carry trade - about the time the XFJ started retreating from it mid-late Oct highs.
Forever learning and in my humble opinion only.
