Just finished watching Megastructures on 7mate. I am dumbfounded. Shanghai port is crowded, so what do the Chinese do? Go out to sea 35 kilometres, and build an island --a man-made island. Then they build a massive container shipping port on it.

Then...to get the containers to and from this island 35 km offshore....they build a bridge. From the island to the shore. 35 km long. And it's only the SECOND-biggest in the world, with an even longer one up the road in China.
(And I used to think the Florida keys were a marvel)

What a testimony to the unbelievable amount of raw materials, iron ore, steel, copper,concrete which went into all this.

And big as it and already in use...there's 9 years more building to go.

Amazing.
