The "matchprice" is a mathematical average of all the bids & offers placed prior to commencement of trade or during the final auction.

Yes you are wrong ... all orders are only purged when a stock is SUSPENDED, and then resumes trading. This is not the case with a trading halt... current orders will stand unless pulled by the owner.
But you are correct in saying the current matchprice is NOT an indication of much at the moment, basicaly because we have not seen the announcement yet & dont know how good it is. If they announce a bonanza resource, watch the offers get pulled & bidders wade in.
