We're not talking about natural deaths rates are we ? We're talking about deaths from Covid. So you're argument is less than weak. And, the suggested number was a basic calculation to get a ballpark starting point via population numbers and deaths from Covid , not ' natural ' occurrences.
You may want to trivilise deaths in the thousands but I'm sure the adults that were tasked with responding to the crisis did not.
