However, Intevia provides an equivalent-priced solution for an existing application that is smaller and lighter ie the mechanism is smaller and lighter and has the ability to sense that seatbelts such as those in the backseat are fastened when necessary thereby also replacing the current in-seat sensors with cheaper/lighter solutions. The sensors and actuators are all tiny and do not require all the current connection hardware, using local wireless as would also apply to the central locking applications that include petrol cap, trunk, bonnet, glovebox etc. Therefore the replacement of the current solution is desirable for the manufacturer (cheaper/better/smarter) as well as the consumer. While they will not be seen in a small Kia in the next 2 years they will be seen increasingly in many companies providing fitouts for manufacturers of more expensive models.
