IGO boss says review of dud nickel buy ‘confronting’

IGO acquired the two assets – the Forrestania operation and Cosmos, a development project supposed to have at least a 10-year mine life to warrant an investment in downstream processing – in 2022 to plug the hole left by its depleted Nova nickel mine.

Mr Vella said the review found “clear issues” with the “assumptions” underpinning the transaction, and recommended the next takeover deal should be cross-checked by an external expert.
