Everybody who's even been in on a few well drills knows that the drill rate decreases as the depth increases, suggesting otherwise is at best totally redundant and at worst panic mongering to try and make inexperienced traders nervous.
Talking up earlier shows may be good for short termers but as can be seen from CTP's example it makes your company look mickey mouse and destroys credability when it turns out you have nothing and your overhyped shares are dumped. How is it advantageous to management for this to happen? We'll know in the end anyway.
