Totally agree that our use of fossil fuels pollutes the atmosphere, MS. Over the last 100 years we have made some great leaps forward to rectify this issue with taking the lead out of petrol being “the biggy”. The 21st century coal fired power plants are also a good example of design improvements, we could name plenty more I’m sure. Transitioning to a sustainable system is certainly a no brainer, reliance on finite resources is never a good idea and with the worlds rapidly increasing energy need’s it’s an issue that requires action now. However, unlike you, I and many others have misgivings about the abilities of the current crop of renewable systems as they fall far short of providing the energy we will need and the resources inputs to create them have the potential to do more damage to our environment/climate. Perhaps when our government’s and scientific institutions can admit that Co2 produced by human activity is not a pollutant, we can really start to work towards better technology in a meaningful way.
