Yes that is a mistake by Flannery on that temperature calculation, Ronsterm. He should have calculated it from Absolute Zero as you say. I still have a lot of respect for the guy though. He is very knowledgeable in his areas of expertise and his books are fantastic. You can't compare him with someone like Bob Carter. The two are poles apart.

Re: 'ad hominem' - I hate that latin phrase. Seems to me it is only ever used by people who want to sound smart (Lord Monckton?). It was also used by murder suspet Loughner in a rant of his before the Tuscon shootings, I might add. That is an ad hominem attack on Loughner, by the way, or as I prefer to say, a 'personal' attack.
