It is worth revisiting the Wonthaggi Desal Plant fiasco. Another ALP brain explosion that costs us every day.
It was estimated to cost $2.9 Billion. It then went to $3.1, $3.5, and finished up costing $4.00 Billion by the time it was completed in 2012. W.A. built one in Perth rated at 50% the capacity for $387 MILLION not BILLION. That was just a few years prior. Less than 10% of what we got slugged.
Today we Victorians pay $1.8 million every day to keep that plant on care and maintenance. If you order water from it, well that costs extra.
$1.8 million every day for 30 years. We have still got 20 years owing. It is estimated the total bill will be $18 - $20 Billion.
P.S. Andrews ordered water from it that we didn't need, a few years ago. Guess what, it couldn't deliver, it broke down.
