    1. Climate change is "real". It has happened for billions of years and will continue to do so for billions more. The contribution by humans is, on available evidence, a matter of great controversy, but likely to be insignificant in the context of the kind of power we can see nature unleash so readily. A volcano erupting or a category 9 earthquake in Japan that shifts the earth's axis by an estimated 10cm makes man's contributions puny in comparison.

    2. by "carbon tax" I assume you mean "Carbon Dioxide Tax"? have you ever asked yourself why the global warming lobby deceitfully, and deliberately, use the subliminal reference to carbon ie black soot, as opposed to carbon dioxide ie a plentiful atmospheric gas essential to plant life? i tis done to deceive people into automatically thinking of images of dirty chimneys belching smoke - as I am sure you have done whilst typing your post.

    3. Carbon dioxide is hardly pollution. It is essential to plant life and to the earth's ecology.

    4. Again, the term "pollution" is used by the govt in describing its tax. Have you ever asked why it is referred to as The carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme instead of "Carbon Dioxide Tax" - again, more subliminal deceit.

    5. as far as other objections are concerned:
. the PM was untruthful on Q&A by stating that China was moving ahead by closing coal fired power stations. In fact,
China is closing old stations and replacing them with newer technology coal stations at the rate of about 1 per week.
. she was untruthful saying Australia is not ahead of the rest of the world. Europe is the only significant region with an emissions trading system and it is in turmoil. None of the major emitters have taken significant steps to do so - the US, China, Japan and India have made clear they have no present intention of doing so.
. none of our major trading partners have taken up the "challenge". An economist like Garnaut must see that "going it alone" can only result in the flight of capital and jobs to S-E Asia, the re-location of industries like steel making offshore, and our major partners preferring to source raw materials from cheaper sources.
. nobody has yet explained how a broad tax on just about everything can do anything other than fill Treasury coffers - certainly it cannot alter the world's climate at all.
. nobody has told us how much the tax will cost the Australian economy in terms of productivity, nor what quantifiable difference to the earth's climate it can make. Why? Because they cannot! We are asked to accept it on trust - or rather faith!
. the US has moved to a direct action model more akin to the Liberals' plan. So should we.
. it is increasingly apparent the primary purpose of the tax is a redistribution of wealth on a scale never before seen; from the upper and middle classes to Labor's voting heartland, and internationally from wealthy countries to poorer ones via the sponge of the UN, which will receive enormous funding for its administration.
. leaving aside the validity of the scientific claims, the so-called "Carbon Tax" is the biggest scam ever sought to be perpetrated on this country. Abbott has vowed to scrap it and I expect he will get a ringing endorsement to do so at the polls.
