Asciano on verge of board restructure
Transport infrastructure company Asciano Group Ltd is planning a major board restructure, which would involve the appointment of three new directors and the departure of chairman Tim Poole, to be replaced by former Orica chief executive Malcolm Broomhead, The Age reports.
Mr Broomhead would be joined by businessman and former deputy head of ANZ Banking Group, Bob Edgar, while the third proposed incoming director's identity is uncertain, but is said to have once held a senior role at Woolworths, the paper reported.
The planned shake up to Asciano's board suggests shareholder dissatisfaction with the company's previous strategy, including its failed move on the international pallet company Brambles.
The company last week appointed former OneSteel Ltd executive Chris Keast as its new divisional general manager, intermodal, and last month Ports boss Doug Schultz left unexpectedly, while chief operating officer, Don Telford announced his retirement.
The substantial changes within Asciano's senior management follow the company's $2.35 billion equity
