The mining industry is male dominated as are boards of directors across all industries. Hotcopper-ites regularly speak the language of exclusion, addressing "gentlemen" and "guys", referencing wives and otherwise making implicit assumptions about their audience. The suggestion that that the only reason women are not represented on boards is because they lack merit is laughable, and ignores at the very least systemic roadblocks like prohibitively expensive childcare and boys clubs. That men get incensed so quickly when a woman raises any of these issues highlights why those issues need to be raised.
Anybody seen this one today? This is how empowered females are reminded of how they are viewed by men generally and by men in the world of business and stock markets specifically. And yes, I'm proud to be a feminist. Why wouldn't I be?
