The trial you quote from is for people who's cancer has not metastasised.
In metastasis, cancer cells break away from where they first formed (primary cancer), travel through the blood or lymph system, and form new tumors (metastatic tumors) in other parts of the body.
"Despite the success of modern chemotherapy in the treatment of large bowel cancers, patients with metastatic gastric cancer continue to have a dismal outcome."
Here's one trial, but different as gastro-esophageal junction cancer patients can be included. But these are HER-2 positive too.
148 started. 13 withdrew. 77 died. Then the trial terminated.
