Excellent article, for the VC fund that I am involved with we would only consider a stock market listing as a last resort exit strategy for one any of our portfolio companies by which I mean the big boys have run their slide rule over it and are not interested.
The ideal exit for us is a corporate acquisition.
Having to go down the IPO route would be indicated as a failure in that we have been instrumental in creating something that no-one in the market place either wants or understands the upside of.
Sound familiar?
I might add that I am not based in Australia so I am not guilty of dumping rubbish on the ASX and to date we have carried out no IPOs but have benefited from 2 corporate acquisition exits with the fund.
