Looks like some of the judges are in trouble too for allegations of bribery! What chance does any company have that tries to play by the rules!!

High court judge facing election petition bribery allegation hears another caseBy Alfred SasakoA High Court judge under investigation by police for alleged bribery and or fraud is to preside over another election petition case, according to High Court listing of cases to be heard this week.Justice Immanuel Kouhota will hear an election petition case against winning candidate Peter Shanel Agovaka on Tuesday 7th April. The case is listed for trial conference in Court Room 3 starting at 09:30.Justice Kouhota was one of two judges who recorded judgement against two winning candidates – Jamie Vokia and John Moffat Fugui – in election petition cases decided earlier this year.Both men were never charged, prosecuted or even convicted. S.66(1) of a repealed Act was used to pass judgement against them.Three judges – the Chief Justice, Justice Terence Higgins and Judge Maelyn Bird – have all said the court has no power under the current Electoral Act 2018 to invalidate election results.Mr. Vokia and Mr. Fugui are fighting their innocence.Mr. Vokia who is one of the winning candidates who lost his seat has since made a referral to the National Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) alleging bribery and or fraud against Justice Kouhota.The matter has since been handed over to JANUS, a crack unit investigating serious corruption allegations in the public sector. JANUS has confirmed having received the referral and is investigating.The allegation against the Judge has prompted calls for his resignation or that the Chief Justice, in his capacity as head of the Legal and Judiciary Commission, suspend him pending the police investigation.The High Court has maintained its silence over the matter.
