Israelis want to kill Iranians and Iranians are responding. Ideally no one should kill anybody but historically there are not many periods of 'world' peace and the middle east has a fair share of issues.
Bear in mind that Iran has been sanctioned for some time by the US - not everyone likes to conform to other countries's wishes or interfering bullying.
Bear in mind too that it was Israel who sent missiles to Iran pre-emptively - so not sure how Trump can ask Iran to surrender - Trump should ask Israel to stop firing at Iran. Israel pounded Palestine based on being attacked but is it expecting no response from Iran when it attacked it?
The US wanted to pound Iran for some time - it seems it supports Israel to do so. Escalation seems likely - as if there aren't enough current conflicts already.
