If we are commiserating about our losses (on paper), I am probably up there with one of the highest figures. I was dazzled by the Samo prospects at the time and doubled down in anticipation of significant profits that never eventuated.

Since that, I have shoved my FAR shares in the bottom drawer and tried very hard not to think about what might have been. If the current drill succeeds, I may retrieve some of my paper losses and be able to sell out for a smaller real loss. That's about the best outcome I can see.

In the meantime, I will not be trying to average down because I simply cannot bring myself to add anything to this miserable investment. I have learned a lesson with FAR and I may emerge with smaller losses that I can usefully employ to offset my better profits elsewhere, when it comes to CGT calculation.
