    The volume in NST yesterday - and many other ASX listed gold miners - was to do with Van Eck's GDXJ fund rebalancing positions as it is required to do Quarterly. In addition this is the time of year it distributes any profits the fund has made during the year (no distribution in 2013). If it is distributing funds this year it needs to raise cash.

    IMO it is good that MLX is not involved in these shenanigans and continues to roll on doing it's thing without the manipulative forces of shorters and rule based funds transferring large chunks of stock periodically.
