......"I think the end of industrial agriculture is not that far away. Time to reign in debt and offload assets that will lose value in that scenario?"......
Na. The end of industrial agriculture means instead of 2% of the workforce as farmers it would be back up to 20% or even 40% like in China. Everyone wants to live in the city or the coast. No one wants to work in a field with a hoe, and neither do I. Good for them, but those that stay out here have to be rewarded. I'm not sure how it will happen, but it will.
The rest of the worlds farmers are going to be paid to sequester carbon, and we are not. Thats if farmer hating Kev gets his way. But if the worlds farmers are going to be planting trees and building soil carbon, that will reduce production. It's one or the other.
You and me and most other farmers know that theres not much room left to increase production, but most others don't know that. Why else would farmers be treated with the hatred and contempt like Australian ones are by the labor government? They think they can do this to us and still get their food, but they will soon learn. I'm looking forward to seeing the aftermath.
The end of industrial agriculture may come with the end of fossil fuels, but that is generations away yet, and it won't concern me or you. I'd reckon the worlds population will drop back to a few billion with a vegetarian diet. But surely something will come along to replace oil?
The paper work and regulation is going to be a nightmare. Not looking forward to it.
I'm staying optimistic. All these barriers are being put out there to test us. People still have to eat. Kev wants to end the Aussie beef industry and put dairy farmers into slavery. Bugger him, he won't be still here by the time it all starts, as the rest of the economy will also be buggered and he and all his other green idiot mates will be on the street and be the laughing stock of the political world. Chin up.
