"Lets work out how LLM's work in laymans terms" - I wish you'd stop trying to "explain" how generative AI works. You're just spouting buzzwords like "parameters", "weights", "algorithms", and "terabytes" without providing any insight at all into what's happening.
If you would like to provide a real explanation, I would recommend the book "What Is ChatGPT Doing ... and Why Does It Work?" by Stephen Wolfram, available in both physical and electronic versions. It's a concise, direct explanation of how generative AI works, easily accessible to the lay reader without dumbing anything down. It starts from basic principles and develops from there to simple neural networks and then to large language models. Among other things it explains:
How models are trained by adjusting weights and transforms
How probability and statistics affect output
Where "hallucinations" come from
Why continually increasing the number of parameters doesn't necessarily lead to "better" results (whatever "better" means)
