Was given this amazing silicone rubber sheet thingy that you put on top of the barbecue plate. After use all you have to do is wash it in warm water. Fat drips into spill tray in normal way but voila, you don't have to clean barbecue plate. Especially good when using marinated meat (which ususally sticks and burns). Haven't seen them in Bunnings but can be found in BBQ galore for about $25
