The equity of tax has been a taboo subject aided by divisiveness expedient to politics and clearly apparent in its application. Is Australia ready for an overhaul that would address the inequity? Unfortunately, as you are no doubt aware, there are many vested interests and beneficiaries who have cemented their positions over time and create barricades that protect and prevent a perhaps more constructive application to address the funding needs of Australia to provide to improved health, education, aged pensions, et al. At the very least, that self interest has to be diluted to enact change.
