As one who has lost 60% of my investment and who also misread the original statement regarding the profit downgrade, I have the following opinion about my investing capabilities.
1. There is nothing wrong with the statement regarding profit downgrade. It is not misleading or convoluted and says exactly what it needs to say. I misread it and panicked for a short period, but never followed through with selling (another mistake in hindsight);
2. Reading all of the conversation regarding shorting and manipulation of the market, I still do not really understand shorting properly.
3. I knew DSH was floated by private equity, but didn't really understand some of the tricks of the trade to polish a turd.
I have come to the realisation that I am not well enough informed, smart enough nor disciplined enough to be actively trading in the share market.
Hate to say it guys, but I have lots of friends in the same boat in this forum, and on hotcopper generally. Man up and take responsibility for your losses and stop blaming private equity firms, shorters and poor announcements. This is a big boys game (apologies to all of the women, but you know what I mean).
