So in other words, those clients at NAB who are holding these shares in their accounts/SMAs/super funds are unwittingly having someone borrow their own shares to bet against them. This causes a more significant downturn in the share price than would happened if only those people who actually held the shares were to sell.
The loser in the end turns out to be the retail client.
